Need help choosing the right level of care for an elderly loved one? There are many options available, designed to meet an array of needs, but it can be hard to decide which senior living option is best.
Find the Perfect Fit
At Brentwood Health Care Center, we offer different levels of care for seniors, and we want to help you find the perfect fit. We’re a family-owned company, with more than 30 years of experience providing care for seniors. We lead with compassion and treat our residents like family. We offer four senior living options, ranging from short-term to long-term care, including rehabilitation, assisted living, skilled nursing and memory care.
To help you make a decision, we’ve prepared this guide to choosing the right level of care for seniors.
Short-Term vs. Long-Term Care for Seniors
Most senior health care centers provide either short-term care, long-term care or both.
Short-term care:
- Typically follows an injury, illness or medical procedure
- Provides medical attention and rehabilitation (if needed) to help return someone to independent living
- Is sometimes referred to as post-acute care
Long-term care:
- Offers life in a community with on-site medical support
- Provides more help with daily living
- Can include memory care for those with Alzheimer’s or dementia
At Brentwood, we have both short-term and long-term care options for seniors.

Does Insurance Cover Short-Term or Long-Term Care?
If you’re seeking care for an elderly loved one, you might wonder if insurance covers short-term or long-term care.
Typically, Medicare covers the first 20 days of rehabilitation, and then for days 21 through 100, Medicare pays 80% of the cost. The rest of the cost can be covered by supplemental insurance, private insurance or Medicare Advantage plans.
Medicare and private pay insurance will usually cover short-term skilled nursing care.
For long-term care, we accept a variety of insurances, including long-term care insurance and Veterans Affairs benefits.
