Pat Sbroglia lived in Cleveland all her life. When the time came for her to move to an assisted living facility, her daughter, Sharon, wanted a place close by. Sharon lives in Eaton Estates, just down the road from Brentwood. That was a key factor in the decision. Now Sharon regularly comes after work to have dinner with Pat. In addition to living less than 10 minutes away from her daughter, Pat also likes how Brentwood is clean and welcoming.
Residents Have Fun
Pat used to be an activities director at another senior living facility. “We did a lot of bus trips,” Pat added. “I also drove the bus.” This background has made Pat an expert on activities at senior living communities, and she gives Brentwood her seal of approval. She especially likes the painting classes and other crafts. Another favorite is the monthly YUM boxes that come with snacks from around the world. They recently tried snacks from Thailand and Pat enjoyed discussing with her friends which treats they liked best. The group also plays the BeanBoozled game, where players pick jellybeans that look like regular flavors, but some are hiding less-appetizing tastes. In a recent game, Pat received a dirty dishwater jellybean, and it burned her mouth, but as she’s ever the life of the party, she took it all in good fun.
What’s Cooking?
The delicious meals at Brentwood are the complete opposite of a dirty dishwater jellybean. Pat normally gets the daily special in the restaurant. She also likes baked beans and corn on the cob. Pat regularly takes part in the Thursday happy hour, where residents can sip a boozy or virgin margarita.
Plenty of Movement
Residents at Brentwood have support for health issues and access to rehab options, if needed. Pat goes to exercise classes often. Brentwood has different instructors who come in to teach fitness classes. The exercise to music class is a top pick for Pat.
Make New Friends at Brentwood
The transition to assisted living was made easier on Pat by meeting new people. She has made friends through the activities and trips offered at Brentwood. “Sometimes, you’re isolated when you live by yourself, and here, I’m not isolated,” said Pat. “I like it a lot. I like just having company and camaraderie.”
