The Importance of Resident-Led Activities and Input

resident-led senior activities

At Brentwood Healthcare Center, we believe the people who live here should have a voice in shaping their community—and we’ve built opportunities for that into our regular programming.

One of the most meaningful ways we do this is through our monthly Resident Council and Food Committee meetings. These gatherings give residents a platform to share feedback, raise concerns, and make suggestions directly to our leadership team. It’s more than just a meeting—it’s a space where voices are heard, respected, and acted upon.

Led by Residents, Supported by Staff
What makes these meetings truly special is that they’re resident-led. Staff are there only to help with typing up minutes and maintaining the agenda. The rest—ideas, discussion, and direction—comes from the residents themselves. This helps foster a strong sense of ownership and empowerment.

We’re proud to currently have Resident Council Presidents in both our Assisted Living and Senior Nursing Home. These leaders help gather feedback from their peers, including those who can’t attend, and act as a liaison between residents, staff, and families. Their input helps bridge perspectives, encourages understanding, and drives positive change throughout our community.
Why Resident Input Matters
By inviting our residents to help shape their experience—from meal ideas to daily routines—we’re building a community that reflects their preferences, needs, and values. It also deepens trust, strengthens connection, and reminds every resident that their voice truly matters here at Brentwood.
