Spending time outdoors has a remarkable impact on seniors’ physical, mental, and emotional health. At Brentwood Healthcare Center, we’ve seen firsthand how even simple outdoor activities can lift spirits, reduce stress, and support overall well-being.
This year, our resident gardens have been a hub of activity and purpose. From planting to harvesting, residents have grown a variety of vegetables, which we’ve incorporated into our Cooking Club sessions. Just last week, we used our home-grown tomatoes to make fresh bruschetta bread—enjoyed by all!
Time spent in the garden allows residents to connect with nature and each other. Whether it’s watering plants, chatting on the patio, or just feeling the sunshine, these outdoor moments are meaningful. We also encourage fresh air social time during seasonal events and outdoor games, helping residents stay active and engaged in a relaxed setting.
Brentwood is proud to offer spaces and programs that keep residents connected to the outdoors in safe, accessible ways. These moments in nature—no matter how small—can make a lasting difference in daily life.
